fund raising - custom silicone bracelets

After 2 years of fund raising for the Breast Cancer 3-Day (coming up with $2200 each time), I think I know a little something about fund raising. I’ve stood out in front of the grocery store more than once telling people about my cause and asking for donations. One thing that didn’t occur to me was to give something to people in return for their donation. I came across this site selling custom silicone bracelets, just like the Livestrong bracelets, that you can design in any color, and with any saying. The more you order, the cheaper they are! If you buy these for your fund raiser, a good idea is to only give the freebie if people donate a certain amount. Say, $10? This way, people who might otherwise have donated $5, will give $10, covering your cost for the bracelet and putting more money towards your goal. ARC Marketing can even do a color fill on your slogan to make it stand out even more. It’s a really neat concept, especially for a cause like breast cancer awareness!

10 miles, no shade

My sister and I are taking part in a 3-Day training walk this Sunday in Dunedin. I pulled up the route and while we’ll be on the Pinellas Trail for 5 miles of the walk, it looks like the other 5 miles will be on the sidewalk / causeway leading out to Honeymoon Island. Excuse me for not being thrilled. Who the heck plans a walk that goes out to the beach, with absolutely NO shade to speak of? Duh!

3-day fundraiser

I will be at the Publix at HollyBrook Plaza in Wesley Chapel on Saturday, 2/3, at 10am for a 3-Day Fundraiser. My sister and I will be collecting change in our buckets so that we can each reach our goal of $2200 for the 3-Day this year. The 3-Day is a 60 mile walk for breast cancer - the donations to go the Susan G. Komen Foundation for research & outreach programs.

If you’re in the area, stop by and say hello! You can also visit my online donation center to contribute.
